5050cloud

5050cloud and Railway

Railway is a managed platform; 5050cloud brings its workflow to servers you run, with trade-offs in both directions.

Same

The canvas, environments, staged changes, variable references, railway.json, Railpack builds, provided variable names, private .railway.internal names, deployment statuses and the CLI verbs.

Where Railway is ahead

  • Nothing to operate: no OS, hardware or backups to own.
  • Global regions, an edge network, PR environments, app sleeping, buckets, functions, wildcard domains and managed database high availability features.
  • Usage billing that is cheap for low average use: a project averaging 1 vCPU and 8 GB costs about $112.50 a month at list prices on 2026-10-22.

Where 5050cloud is ahead

  • Price at steady load: a workload using 4 vCPU and 16 GB around the clock costs about $252.50 a month on Railway and about $102 on a Hetzner CCX23 running 5050cloud (list prices on 2026-10-22; check current prices).
  • Flat cost as traffic grows, until the box is full.
  • Your data stays on your machines and your bucket.
  • Static outbound IPs at no charge: your hosts' IPs.
  • Open source: AGPL-3.0 server, MIT CLI.
