# 5050 up

> Upload this directory and deploy it into the linked service, streaming the logs.

Upload this directory and deploy it into the linked service, streaming the logs.

## Usage

```sh
5050 up [PATH] [flags]
```

## Flags

| Flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `-d, --detach` | Return after the upload instead of streaming logs |
| `-c, --ci` | Stream only the build logs and exit when the build finishes; non-zero on failure |
| `-m, --message TEXT` | Message recorded with the deployment |
| `--new` | Create a new service from this directory |
| `--name NAME` | Name for the service created by `--new` |
| `--no-gitignore` | Upload files that `.gitignore` would skip |
| `--path-as-root` | Use PATH as the root of the upload instead of the linked root directory |

## Details

- The CLI packs the directory as a gzipped tar, skipping `.git` and anything matched by `.gitignore` and `.5050ignore`.
- Uploads over 500 MB are refused. Add large files to `.5050ignore`.
- It prints `Uploaded 3.2 MB`, the build log, the first deploy log lines, then `Deployed: https://...` and exits 0. On failure it prints the one-sentence diagnosis and exits 1.

## Examples

```sh
5050 up
5050 up --new --name api
5050 up -c -m "release 42"
```

## Railway equivalent

`railway up` works the same way through the [railway alias](https://5050cloud.com/docs/cli/railway-alias).

Every command also accepts the [global options](https://5050cloud.com/docs/cli/global-options).
